Melissa Thomson received a degree in psychology from Auburn University and a degree in Developmental Learning from the University of Alabama. She has taught preschool for almost 20 years and has been at DHUMP since 1999. She lives in Decatur with her husband and three boys.

Jo Anna Lyons-Newbern has been teaching at DHUMP since 2001. She is the mother of three young children and is an energetic teacher in the M-F Adventure Class.

Alice Spetseris has been teaching the Adventure group at DHUMP since 1988. Alice fell in love with DHUMP when her children were here. She worked in the insurance industry, but prefers teaching and loves children. She attended Dekalb Community College and has attended many seminars, education courses and workshops.

Debbie Sidell has been teaching at DHUMP since 1997. Debbie is the mother of two girls and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Massachusetts. She previously worked in children’s book publishing for 14 years.
Sarah Newton moved to Atlanta in 2004 with her husband Adam, an Atlanta chef. She has two sons, both DHUMP students. She was born and raised in Michigan, earned a BS in Spanish from Central Michigan University and taught English as a second language (ESL) before having children. She is thrilled to teach, play, laugh & learn with the DHUMP children and is DHUMP's Spanish enrichment teacher.

Jennifer Chanler moved here from San Francisco in 2004. She has two children, both DHUMP alumni. She went to school in Boulder and The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in San Francisco. She has worked in sales and in the apparel industry before becoming a mom. Jennifer was a substitute at DHUMP when she realized she loved working with children. She loves Atlanta and all the friends she has made here through DHUMP.

Mia Jamison has worked with young children for over 20 years and began teaching at DHUMP in 2000. Her academic background is in early childhood education and sociology. She moved to Atlanta in 1996 from Chicago and has a teenage daughter.

Cynthia moved to Atlanta from Bangladesh in 1995 and began working at DHUMP in 2001, the same year she began college. She has worked in several classrooms and is currently in her second year with the Adventure class. She has a son who is a DHUMP preschool alumnus.
